I started with goats in 2015 with an initial focus on Dairy, but unfortunate  circumstances called for a change of focus and now the herd is breeding for meat mostly, and I milk  just for personal use.   I do still have a couple of very nice ADGA registered, show quality, dairy does and hope at some point I will get a chance to grace the show ring again with them.  All of our goats have names and we try to know as much about them as we can and treat them as well as we treat our family pets.

We had 24 head of doe's into the 2023/24 season and now going into the 2024/25 season we are at 32 head of breeding doe's.   We would like to grow even more, but that will be dependent on whether we are able to get a new barn constructed, because 50 head is about all that our current building set up can handle.

After some major failures the first couple of years, and then some devoted education on my own and from a mentor or two, I am very proud to say now, that I have an excellent success rate with pregnancies, kidding and growth.  I have put together a comprehensive prenatal care plan that fits our program to a T, and with the assistance of our favorite feed mill working with my nutritional recommendations, have created a one size fits all feed tailored to meet all aspects of the goat.  We have been successful at eliminating digestive upset in all ages of our goats for 5 years now.   I credit a great deal of my success to the SWTC Annual Meat & Dairy Goat Academy presenters and also to the ADGA Convention speakers.  The very educated people they bring into these events to share their knowledge is priceless and so worth every dime you pay to go and listen to them.  My goats are happier and healthier for it.

Peaches and her sister Persimmon came to us together in 2020.  They are said to be La Mancha Boer Crosses.   The only sign of Boer I see are their markings, otherwise they are very much small and dairy.  I was pleasantly surprised with our first and subsequent kids out of them.  They are always big and fast growers.  Very happy with these ladies.

Welcome Treasure Meadows Rhyme Time to our farm.  All the way from Indiana, born 4/18/23.  She is my 2023 show doeling and comes with a powerhouse milking pedigree.  I am ecstatic to have her join our herd.

Tulsa

IMG_2706.JPG

The more I've watched Tulsa grow and mature, the more I fall in love with her.  Born in 2018, I drove to Oklahoma to purchase her at 8 months old.  She is ADGA registered, very dairy and correct.  I took her to 1 show as an unbred yearling, but haven't made it back to the ring as a milker, which I hope to do in 2024 as a 6yr old.  She produces nice dairy type kids and is a wonderful mother.

MEG

Meg, short for Nutmeg is a 2022 ADGA registered purebred Nubian.  She is a yearling as big as my 2yr old and a solid bone structure.  The only reason she isn't showing this year is because she came to us open this year.  She comes from some decent dairy lines and is a super friendly girl, always the first to find you and follows you everywhere.

Pearl is the 2023 daughter of Pink and she turned out to be a full fledged fainter.  She will be staying on the farm for now playing the drama queen role.

Angel
IMG_4411.JPG

Angel is the 2021 daughter of Persimmon, sired by Bristow, the Myotonic buck we used to have.  She has freshened twice and is a nice mom.

Vegas is a 2019 model that looks pure Alpine but we were told she has some Boer goat in her.  No doubt in my mind after the 1st kid she had.  At 4 months old he topped the scales at 65lbs.  I wish all my does could produce babies that grow like this.  Vegas is super nice and a heck of a good mom.

Sage

Sage is a 2021 Commercial Boer  doe.  She first freshened in 2023 with a very nice Toggenburg cross doeling and was such a wonderful mom, she even adopted the kids off of 2 other doe's.

Pink

This is Pink and she is a 2019 model, Alpine, Boer Fainter cross. A very good mother and producer of excellent crossbred kids.

Lunar Eclipse is a 2021 ADGA registered Nubian doe.  She has never freshened before, but I am excited to add her milking genetics to the herd.

Juliette

Juliette is a 2018 model Saanan doe.  She is a great mother and always produces very nice kids.

Buddy

The below 6 goats came as a group from the Azoosment Park in East Dundee, IL.   They were petting zoo retiree's and are said to be a mixture of 2019 and 2020 does with Boer and Kiko breeding.   They now will live to be mama's.

Buddy was born in 2021 to Bela and was bottle raised by my son.  He now thinks he's a dog and is one of the most spoiled babies on the farm.  He has now been wethered so he can remain on the farm as a pet.

Miss Gabbriella came to our farm as a 2021 bottle baby for market and was raised with Buddy >>>>>>     She matured very nicely so we decided to retain her.  She is a very loud talker, but very sweet and also a great first time mom in 2023.  We love Gabby
